Jasper Hardesty 88, of Dexter, formerly of Advance, died July 7, 2012, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter. He was born June 20, 1924, near Gipsy, Mo. to Noah and Sarah Ann Jackson.
Jasper was a lifelong resident of Advance. He made railroad ties since he was 14 years old. He also farmed and had been a log cutter. He loved gardening, playing the fiddle, hunting and fishing. He believed in the Baptist faith.
Jasper and Ethel Wilfong were united in marriage on July 10, 1948, at Advance and she survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Roy Lee Hardesty of Dexter, Steve Hardesty of Dexter and Craig Hardesty of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Shirley Payne of Hillsboro, Mo., and Wilma Watkins of Lexington, Ind.; one brother, John Hardesty of Advance; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home chapel.
Rev. Scott Payne will officiate. Burial will follow at Cowan Cemetery in Hiram, Mo.
