Earl Miller, son of the late Luther and Ida Gooch Miller, was born in Dexter on Dec. 15,1924, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on July 27, 2012, at the age of 87.

He had lived all of his life in Dexter. He had worked for Worley Implement Co., John Deere dealer for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Dexter V. F. W. for 65 years.

On May 18,1946, he was married to Esta Lee Gillis in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Pewitt of Cape Girardeau, and Regina Hastings of Farmington; four grandchildren, Jake and Ann Pewitt of Cape Girardeau, and Tristan and Parker Hastings of Farmington; one brother, Clarence Miller of Essex; and one sister, Freda Eaton of Dexter. Other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Miller on Dec. 2, 2003, and one sister, Lois Matthews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Essex Cemetery in Essex with the Rev. Jimmy Kirby of Dexter officiating.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
