James "Jim" Franklin Stepp

James "Jim" Franklin Stepp, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 14, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Jim was born to Nathan R. Stepp and Sarah B. (VanEsler) Stepp in Grassy, Mo., on April 25, 1932.

Jim was an ordained General Baptist Minister for 30 years. He worked at several other jobs during his life. He always worked very hard to provide for his family and others. He will be remembered as a caring man.

Preceding him in death are his parents and nine brothers and sisters, John W., Nathan B., George H., Leonard H., Semla M. (Henderson), Margaret E. (Hoffner), Betty M. Stepp and He is survived by his special friend, Anna Bruce of Bloomfield, Mo.; a brother, Robert N. Stepp of Concord, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy M. (Stepp) King of Bowling Green, Mo.; five sons: James (Lisa) Stepp of New Albany, Ind., John (Pam) Stepp of Matthews, Mo., David Bruce of Dexter, Mo., John Bruce of Bloomfield, Mo., and Keith (Marrianne) Bruce of Dexter, Missouri; by four daughters, Diane (Robert) Hanner of Bloomfield, Mo., Martha (Terry) Rowland of Fisk, Mo., Dorothy Beyer (Ronnie Alsup) of Dexter, Mo. and Sarah (Joe) Fluty of Louisa, Ky.

He is fondly remembered by 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and the many friends that result from a lifetime of caring for and helping others.

Visitation will be at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. The Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m.

His ashes will be buried at the Grassy Friendship Cemetery in Grassy, Mo., on Aug.18, 2012.

The family requests any memorials be made to the Grassy Friendship Cemetery Association (GFCA).
