Flags should fly at half-mast Tuesday

Monday, September 10, 2012

JEFFERSON CITY -- Gov. Jay Nixon today issued the following statement to remember the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001:

"Tomorrow, our nation will give special remembrance to the terrible events that happened on a bright, clear Tuesday morning 11 years ago. As we honor those who lost their lives that day, we should also remember and honor those brave Americans who continue to place themselves in harm's way to protect us and our freedoms. May we renew our support for them on this Patriot Day 2012, and may our resolve be ever-strengthened by their courage and sacrifice."

As provided by state law, the United States and Missouri flags at all government buildings statewide will be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, Sept. 11 to honor those who died in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
