Marvin Russell Allen of Dexter, was born July 7, 1921, in Bloomfield, Mo., to Steve and Jenny (Avery) Russell and died Sept. 13, 2012, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 91.
Mr. Russell had lived most of his life in Bloomfield and attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church. He worked as an auto machinist for 20 years and a line operator for BMU for 27 years before retiring.
On Aug. 22, 1942, in Bloomfield he married Margaret Robinson. She preceeded him in death on June 17, 2000. He was also preceeded in death by one daughter, one great-granddaughter, three brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and DuWayne Standridge of Dexter, Mo.; two grandsons and their spouses, Stephen and Denise Alsup of Paragould, Ark., and Terry and Diane Alsup of Elk Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-children.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the funeral at 12 p.m. at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Mo., with Rev. Tom McCanless of Belgrade, Mo., officiating.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
