Marion Thomas Billington

Marion Thomas Billington, son of the late Samuel Elmer Billington and Edna Sheridan Billington, was born on July 17, 1916, in Lilbourn, Mo., and died at his residence in Kevil, Ky., on Sept. 13, 2012, at the age of 96.

Mr. Billington was of the General Baptist faith. He had worked as a general contractor and a supervisor for Stone & Webster Construction Company. He was also a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. Marion was a proud 63-year member of Trio #57 A.F. & A.M. in Rock Island, Ill., and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Southern Illinois.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Troxell on Jan. 25, 1941, in Benton, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2006.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Marion Eugene Billington and Cindy of Kevil, Ky.; one brother, Burl Billington of Williston, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Brandi Billington Sims and husband Andy of Paducah, Ky.; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Sims of Paducah, Ky.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m.

at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Josh Carpenter officiating.

Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Mo. with full military funeral honors.
