Dexter netters prevail against Notre Dame

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Dexter was without its No. 2 player, but the rest of the Lady Bearcats stepped up with the help of a junior varsity replacement for a 5-4 win over Notre Dame Regional High School on the road Tuesday in girls tennis action.

Dexter's Hailee Hubbard was absent from the team when the Lady Bearcats traveled to the Lady Bulldogs home court looking to avenge a season-opening 5-4 loss at home. With Hubbard missing, players 3 through 6 were forced to play up one position with the team's No. 1 junior varsity player, Katelyn Frazier, moving into the varsity lineup in the No. 6 position.

Frazier picked up a win in the singles competition and then teamed with Makayla Waldner for a doubles win to help lead the Lady 'Cats to victory.

The Lady Bulldogs took victories at Nos. 1 and 2 in both singles and doubles, but the visiting Lady Bearcats' depth prevailed in the tightly contested win.
