Shirley Myers Lee, daughter of the late Gay Maurice Myers and Lois Norman Myers, was born in Essex on Sept. 8, 1935, and died at her home in Bernie on Sept. 24, 2012, at the age of 77.
Mrs. Lee was a retired school teacher, having worked many years in the Bernie Elementary School system teaching third grade.
She was a member of the Broadway Brethren Church of Essex and attended the Bernie United Methodist Church. She loved science and had studied rocks and minerals, compiling so much information that she had shared her teachings with several schools over
the Southeast Missouri region.
She was united in marriage to Donald Howard Lee in Essex, Mo., on Oct. 18, 1968.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Howard Lee of Bernie; one brother, Dale Myers of Kansas City, Mo.; and one sister, Norma Boothe of Melbourne, Ark. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dave Fowler officiating.
Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
