Mr. Hendley had been Assistant Police Chief of Bernie during his early years. He was also a paramedic, having worked for Stoddard County Ambulance, Lucy Lee Ambulance and later was Chief Operations Officer for Twin Rivers Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was united in marriage to Pat Ann Brotherton in Malden on May 2, 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Hendley of their home in Bernie; one son, Tommy Joe Hendley II of Bernie; one daughter, Quinette Ann Harris of Bernie; two sisters, Patricia D. Hayes of Paducah, Ky., and Linda Lou Cuddihy of Genoa, Ill; five grandchildren, Misty Harris, Ike Harris, Clay Harris, Brittany Hendley and Shane Hendley; three great-grandchildren, Kalha Ann Cannady, Emma Jane Vise, and Caiden Vise.
In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death one brother, Donald Robert Hendley.
Visitation will be at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie on Saturday Oct. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is in charge of arrangements.
