S.O.S. families still available

The list of families in Stoddard County who are in need of help this holiday season continues to grow.

Newly received families are listed below. If a family previously listed no longer appears in the paper, that is an indication that the family has been adopted.

Those who have an interested in adopting one of these families are asked to call The Daily Statesman at 624-4545 or come into the newspaper office at 133 S. Walnut St. in Dexter to obtain the names and further information on the family of choice.

Several more families are expected to enroll in the adoption program over the next several days.

Family 3

Single mother has three children, two sons who are nine and seven and daughter who is five. Mother lists toys and clothing items as well as household items as needs.

Family 5

Local mother has one son, a six-year-old who needs pajamas and learning toys or books and developmental games.

NOTE: Trammell Real Estate has adopted this family.

Family 6

Single mother has a 12-year-old son who asks for shoes, socks, video games, iPod, and clothing. Household items also are in need.

Family 7

Unemployed couple has a two-year-old girl. Needs include clothing, shoes, a coat, play kitchen food and learning toys as well as household items.

Family 8

Single mother has two teenagers, a 14-year-old girl and a boy who is 18. Clothing and toiletries are requested, along with food and household items.

NOTE: Smith Payne Realty adopted this family.

Family 10

Another single father with one son, 12 years old. Clothing and X-Box 360 games requested and any football items. Also household items needed.

Family 11

A mother going through a divorce has two girls, 10 and 14 who could use clothing and games. Mom works a part-time job, but does not earn enough to guarantee her girls a Merry Christmas. Anything, she says, would be appreciated.

Family 12

A mother of three is requesting clothes and dolls for her three daughters ranging in age from one to six. Household goods are also in need.

Family 13

A father of five is in need of assistance this Christmas. His children, between ages 14 and 20, are requesting clothes, a few gifts and household goods.

Some families who have received help through this program have also enrolled, but are not being published at this time. First time families receive priority until they have all been adopted.
