Vallie Walls

Vallie Walls, son of the late Edward and Nettie Mae Riley Walls, was born in Malden on Nov. 19, 1921, and died at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Nov. 27, 2012, at the age of 91.

Vallie grew up in the Parma area and moved to Pontiac, Mich., until 1978 when he retired from Pontiac Motors and moved back to Bernie. He had worked as a master machinist for Pontiac Motors. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dexter and a member of the Elks for several years, a past member of the Dexter Eagles, and a member of the UAW.

On March 15, 1941, he was married to Lois Gilbow. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2000. On Feb. 14, 2001, he was married to Mary Sue Robinson in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Sue Walls, of Bernie; two sons, Jerry Walls and his wife Sheila of Dexter and Gary Walls and his wife Laura of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one stepson, Tom Robinson, and his wife Carolyn of Bernie; one stepdaughter, Doris Turner, and her husband Wendell of Bernie; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Hubert Walls of the state of Florida. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec.1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Bass officiating. Interment will

follow at the Duncan Cemetery in Dexter. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
