Charles Ray Pippins

Charles Ray Pippins, son of the late Rube and Ruby Glass Pippins, was born on March 21, 1932, in Bernie, Mo. and passed into heaven on Dec. 20, 2012, at the age of 80.

Charlie was a devoted member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter. He served many capacities in the church as Trustee and caregiver utilizing his talents to "fix anything". He was an active supporter of the church youth program and most recently of youth sports at the Dexter Schools. He was an avid bird hunter and aviation enthusiast.

In his youth, he attended Bernie Schools and then graduated from Dexter High School in 1950. In the 1950's, he worked for Worley Implement Company as a mechanic.

Charles began farming in 1960 with family members and later as an individual farmer until his recent retirement.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Faye Pippins on May 24, 1955, who passed away on May 29, 2007.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Charlyn Cay Pippins; by one sister-in-law, Ruth Esther Mayer; and by one brother-in-law, Carter Ronald Worley.

Mr. Pippins is survived by one daughter, Jill Goddard and her husband, Matthew Goddard, and their two sons, Charles Carter Henning and Hal Daniel Goddard, all of Jones, Okla. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Pippins, Sr., and his wife, Mary Ellen Pippins; by one sister-in-law, Mary Worley; and by one brother-in-law, Bob Mayer, all of Dexter; by several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
