Rev. Samuel H. McClellan, son of the late Samuel Nelson and Bertie Stricker McClellan, was born in Stanberry, Mo., April 9, 1924, and died at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico, Mo., Jan. 16, 2013, at the age of 88.

He had last pastored in Morley and Naylor, Mo., for 20 years and had been the camp caretaker at the Church of God Youth Camp for 14 years.

In 2005, he moved to Puxico and attended the First Baptist Church in Puxico.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of the D.A.V. and the Puxico VFW Post.

He was married to Kathleen Fish on July 21, 1946 in Hatfield, Mo. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2005.

Surviving are three sons, David and Dale McClellan both of Bloomfield, and Daniel McClellan of Kansas City; one daughter, Billie Carmack of Kelso; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Cleo, Charles, Gene, and Carl McClellan; and four sisters, Mabel Young, June Farrnes, Bonnie Poe and an infant sister Eva Saver.

Visitation will take place on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Justin Miller of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, MO 63825.
