Michael T. Harlan, son of Michael M. and Debra A. Dougherty Harlan, was born in St. Louis, Mo., on March 31, 1985, and died in Hawaii on Jan. 13, 2013, at the age of 27.
He had lived in Grayridge all his life. He graduated from Richland High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He was an active member of the U.S. Army and had just enlisted for the second time.
On March 16, 2012, he was married to Monika Vankova in Prague, Czech Republic.
Surviving are his wife, Monika Harlan of Hawaii; his parents, Michael and Debra Harlan of Grayridge; one brother, Tommy J. Harlan of Grayridge; three sisters, Melody Sherfield of Grayridge, Diane Bardol of Jackson, and Deedra Gardner of Mesa, Ariz.; and five special nephews. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
Interment with full military honors will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with a U.S. Army chaplain conducting the services.
