B.J. served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, Rifle Qualification Badge (Expert), and Pistol Qualification Badge (Expert). B.J. graduated from Bloomfield High School, and was currently a resident of Bonne Terre, Mo., where he was employed by Union Pacific Railroad.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Calvin and Johnna Edwards of Bloomfield, Mo.; his
mother, Billie Kaye Edwards of Park Hills, Mo.; one daughter, Kamryn Mae Edwards of Bloomfield, Mo.; three brothers, Cody Gene Edwards and wife Rachel of Bloomfield, Mo., Bradley Travis Young of Marion, Ill., and Johnny White of Bloomfield, Mo.; two sisters, Amanda Mautino and husband John of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Jessica White of Bloomfield, Mo.; and his grandmothers, Louise Toppins of Vulcan, Mo., and Betty Edwards of Bloomfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Toppins and Ernest Edwards, Jr.
Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors.
