Kenneth R. Green, son of the late John Harvey and Mabel Fay Darr Green, was born in Bloomfield, MO. on July 9, 1935, and died at his daughter's home, with his family by his side, in Alton, Ill., on Dec. 9, 2013, at the age of 78.
He was raised in the Bloomfield community and later moved to Bethalto, Ill., where he worked and raised his family. He retired as a machinist from Nixdorff Chain and moved to Dudley, Mo. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
He was married to Betty Jo Crossfield in Dupo, Ill., on Nov. 23, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2010.
Surviving are four sons, John L. Green of Brighton, Ill., Rick Green of Dudley, Mo., Kenneth Green of Hartford, Ill., and Eric Green of East Alton, Ill.; four daughters, Vicki Dickinson and Kathy Green both of Alton, Ill., Dawn Unterbrink of Bethalto, Ill., and Debbie Bolt of Clarksville, Tenn.; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joyce Fleetwood of Henderson, Nev., Shelby Monroe of Bloomfield, Mo., Judy DeMarsh of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Lois Holden of Dexter, Mo.
He was preceded in death by three children, Rosetta Olsen, Paula Green, and Gary Green; one grandson, Kenneth William Tolbert; one great-grandson, Trey Richards; one sister, Doris Thomas; and one brother, James L. Green.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, from 11 a.m. until time of service of 2 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield.
