Lucille Elizabeth Sheley, daughter of the late A.F. "Spot" Renn and Mary Margaret Grafe Renn, was born on Nov. 30, 1915, at Jefferson City and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the age of 87. Mrs. Sheley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, a member of Daughters of Isabella Glennon Circle, charter member and past president of Karim Khan Grotto Auxiliary, St. Ann's Sodality of Immaculate Conception Church, member of Federated Democratic Women's Clubs, past president of Cole County Women's Jefferson Democratic Club, past chairman of Cole County Democratic Committee, past chairman of Eighth District Central Committee, past president of Eighth Congressional District Women's Clubs, past president of Missouri Federated Democratic Women's Clubs, a former liaison officer for District, State, and Regional Offices in Jefferson City, Kansas City and Chicago, a former employee of Union State Bank in Clinton as Ration and Loan Officer, formerly employed by the State of Missouri by the State Treasurer, Secretary of State, State Senate Clerk's Office and was Executive Secretary for Department of Labor & Industrial Relations. She was appointed Circuit Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cole County and worked in that office for 22 years, having been elected twice. She left county employment and was appointed Personnel Officer for the Department of Safety of Missouri before retirement in 1981. She was united in marriage to W.C. "Woody" Sheley on Feb. 15, 1936, at Jefferson City. Mr. Sheley preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1988. Survivors include one son, Father John William Sheley of Dexter; one sister, Josephine H. Duncan of Columbia. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles F. "Bud" Renn. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003. Rosary services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will then be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the Buescher Funeral Home in Jefferson City with Rosary services at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City with Father Patrick Dolan officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in the Resurrection Cemetery at Jefferson City. Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter or to the Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City. PAID
