Lois Imogene Mitchell, daughter of the late Elvis Reynolds and Gladys Irby Mitchell, was born on April 19, 1925, at Dexter and died in the Sheridan Nursing Home at Sheridan, Ark., on Dec. 27, 2002, at the age of 77. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Sheridan, Ark. She was united in marriage to Melvin Eugene Mitchell on Nov. 1, 1941, at Clarkton. He preceded his wife in death on July 21, 1984. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Leon Mitchell of Marlow, Okla., and Joseph Wayne Mitchell of Sheridan, Ark.; one daughter, Connie Elaine Mitchell Stubbs of Sheridan, Ark.; one brother, Houston Reynolds of Elgin, Ill.; four sisters, Helen McBride and Faye Bunch, both of Dexter, Sue Dock of Malden and Yvonne Chance of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, E.J. Reynolds, and one sister, Janis Fowler. Visitation was held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Walt Hollis officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
