James Norman

James "Rod" Norman, son the late Hallie H. Norman and Elinor Cox Norman, was born on Feb. 11, 1927, at Dexter and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Nov. 15, 2002, at the age of 75. He was a retired farmer from the Parma area, a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division. He attended John Brown and Southeast University. In 1953 Mr. Norman accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Parma. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Dexter Evangelical Free Church and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Marlene Azbill on March 19, 1955, at Parma. Mrs. Norman survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Starrla Norman of Dexter; one daughter, Kimberly Norman of Dexter; one brother, Harold S. Norman of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Sue Miller of Basking Ridge; three grandchildren, James Hunter Norman of Dexter, Dustin Nowlin of Cape Girardeau, and Bridgett Palmer of Malden; two great-grandchildren; twenty-four nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
