Alzie Gromer

Alzie Gromer, the daughter of the late Henry and Ella Mason, was born in Vandalle, Ark., on Dec. 7, 1907, and died at her home in Dexter on Sept. 14, 2002, at the age of 94. Mrs. Gromer had lived in the Hill?s Store Community from 1944 to 1975. In 1975 she moved to Dexter. She was a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. On April 13, 1944, she was married to Hugh Guy Gromer in Blytheville, Ark. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1987. Surviving are one niece and care giver with whom she shared her home. Many other nieces and nephews also survive. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl and Ernest Ridge, Lloyd, Floyd and Fred Mason; three sisters, Modenia Mason, Ila Bauland, and Addie Gromer. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Sept. 17, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Elbert Mason of St. Louis officiating and Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter assisting. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
