C. Branum

Chester B. Branum, son of the late Thomas Jefferson Branum and Alice Hastings Branum, was born on May 26, 1924, at Hornersville and died at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter on August 9, 2002, at the age of 78. He was united in marriage to Thelma Menley McNeeley on May 1, 1988, at Dexter. Mrs.; Branum survives of the home in Dexter. Mr. Branum was a member of the Sugar Tree General Baptist Church near Dexter, a former custodian at the Dexter High School, a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, and a resident of Dexter. Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Branum and Deryl Branum, both of Dexter; two step-daughters; two brothers, Charles Branum and Tommy Branum, both of Kennett; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Branum, Milt Branum and Willie Branum; two sisters, Beryl Holmes and Nellie Hanners. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Ogelvie and Rev. Everett Hessling officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
