William Jenkins of Advance was born Nov. 17, 1926 near Tillman in Stoddard County, the son of the late Freeman and Jewel Devore Jenkins and died Friday, June 21, 2002 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 75. Mr. Jenkins graduated from Advance High School in 1945. He was a veteran of World War II, serving int he Army Air Force. Before retiring in 1985, he was a farmer for 25 years, a part-time i nsurance agency for 22 years and a postal worker in Advance and Cape Girardeau fo 15 years. He was a long-time member of the Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter and Crowley Ridge Country Club in Bloomfield. Mr. Jenkins was united in marriage to Wanda Tippett on Jan. 13, 1947 and she survives of the home. Other survivors include on son and daughter-in-law, William Anthony and Liana Jenkins of Advance; Nancy Jilll and Harry Foster of Hutchinson, Kansas; six grandchildren - Kathy Kirkman of Clarksville, Tenn, Kristi Jenkins of Tulsa, Okla., Erin Cook of Advance and Andrew Jenkins of Advance; William Ross Foster of Antioch, Calif., and Terry Ray Foster of Seattle, Wash.; three great-grandchildren - Katlyn and Bryce Cook and Hannah Kirkman; by three brothers: Lemond Jenkins of Springfield, Earl Jenkins of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Russel Jenkins of Springfield; one sister; Carolyn Jenkins Visek of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wila Dean Colyer. Visitation will be held today, Sunday, June 23, from 5-8 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24 at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Kristi Jenkins delivering the eulogy and the Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park.
