Jack Parsons

Clinton H. "Jack" Parsons, the youngest son of Joseph W. and Matilda Sanders Parsons, was born near Herrin, Ill. February 19, 1910 and died on June 19, 2002, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, at the age of 92. Mr. Parsons, a 75 year resident of Stoddard County, is survived by one son, C.H. Parsons, Jr.; by two daughters, Lydia E. Temples and Lurlyn Jo Daniel; by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was united in marriage on February 11, 1931 to Evelyn Barham Parsons and she preceded him in death on June 29, 1990. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. Mr. Parsons was a charter member of the Dexter Lions Club, having served as president and secretary for over 20 years. He was a past president of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, a 57 year member of the Kenady Hanks Post of the American Legion and a member of Dexter Elks Lodge #2439. Jack served in the United States Navy during WW II. After the Navy, Jack was an active businessman in the electrical construction business throughout Southeast Missouri and was very active in the civic and political affairs of Dexter and Stoddard County he was an avid supporter of the Lions Eye Tissue Bank. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m., Friday, June 21. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating . Interment will follow with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Lions Eye Tissue Bank at 404 Portland, Columbia, Mo. 65201.
