Berry Holder

Berry Holder, the son of the late Oscar Summers and Bertha Pearl Siegers Holder, was born in Clarkton on Jan. 21, 1914 and passed away at his home in Dexter, Mo. on May 20, 2002, at the age of 88. Mr. Holder had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life and had lived in Dexter since 1951. For 25 years he was the manager of the Stovall?s Department Store in Dexter. Mr. Holder was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director, Sunday School teacher and had served in the past as a member of the church board. On Nov. 24, 1938, he was united in marriage to Inez Daniel in Dexter, Mo. Surviving are wife, Inez Holder of Dexter; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Alice Holder of Annapolis, M.A., Jerry and Joan Holder of Columbus, Ga., Larry and Mary Holder of Bourbonnais, Ill.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Campbell of Kennett, Mo. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Holder in 1989. Friends may call on Thursday, May 23, 2002, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 24, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in the Watkins & Son Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vaughn Wright of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements. PAID
