Virginia Parris, daughter of the late John Nimmo and Jenny Frazier Nimmo, was born on June 24, 1921 at Cooter, Mo. and died in the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff on May 19, 2002, at the age of 80. Mrs. Parris was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Walter Ted Parris on July 17, 1937 at New Madrid. Mr. Parris preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1975. Survivors include six sons, Ralph Glyn Parris of Land O'Lakes, Fla., Dennis Parris and Keith Parris, both of Granite City, Ill., Eddie Parris of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Parris of Marble Hill and Kevin Parris of Dexter; five daughters, Faye Lenderman and Gwen Schock, both of O'Fallon, Joan Lowe of Dexter, Bonnie Stinson of Dudley and Patsy Hughes of Bertrand; two brothers, John Nimmo and Jerry Nimmo, both of Sikeston; three sisters, Estelle Oliver of Morehouse, Mabel Northcutt and Wanda Tippy, both of Sikeston; 35 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Parris and Rebecca Parris; and by three brothers, Bob Nimmo, Kenneth Nimmo and Dale Nimmo. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 21. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22 in the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter with Rev. Robert Bentley officiating. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of arrangements.
