Bert Farmer Minton, 85, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter. Born May 24, 1917 in Dexter, son of the late Marion T. and Stella Farmer Minton, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. Mr. Minton was a former heavy equipment operator, worked at McFaw Land Company, Liberty Township Collector, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., D.A.V. and Dexter Masonic Lodge. On September 3, 1941 at Essex, he married Martha D. Miles. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Victoria L. Mattes and Robyn A. Brown, both of Dexter; and four grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Minton; one brother, Fred E. Minton; and two sisters Myrtle Blankenship and Lindell Stroud. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2003 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
