L. Guiling

Lillian C. Guiling, the daughter of the late William P. and Lealer Ann Wood Fowler, was born in Wayne County, Tenn., on May 5, 1921, and passed away at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 17 days. Ms. Guiling had been a resident of Essex until 1951when she moved to Cape Girardeau where she lived until her death. She was a member of the General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau. On March 7, 1938, she was married to Curtis C. "Dude" Guiling. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1991. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Joel Guiling of Cape Girardeau; one grandson and his wife, Tim and Stacy Guiling of St. Louis; and one brother, Buford Fowler of Sikeston. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She is preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating. Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. PAID
