Opal Chadwell

Opal Riley Chadwell, daughter of the late John Riley and Iva Cooper Riley, was born on Oct. 6, 1909 at Powe and died in the Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus in Poplar Bluff on March 10, 2002, at the age of 92. Mrs. Chadwell was a former resident of Dexter, affiliated with the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, and a housewife that loved to work in her flower garden. She was united in marriage to Elmer Chadwell on July 31, 1927 in Bernie. Mr. Chadwell preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Allen of Poplar Bluff. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Prentice Chadwell; by four brothers; three sisters; and one grandson. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 12. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roy Standfill officiating. Interment will follow at the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
