Martha Ann Pullum Williams, the daughter of the late Herbert and Serena McCoy Pullum, was born in Essex on Aug. 28, 1911 and died at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty, Texas on Feb. 21, 2002, at the age of 90. She was a former resident of Essex, Malden and Dexter, but was residing in Liberty, Texas at the time of her death. Surviving are two sons, Cletus Ray Parris of Cleveland, Texas and Billy Joe Pope of Festus; three daughters, Evelyn Jane Moore of Liberty, Texas, Shirley Maxine Fadler of Barnhart, Mo. and Delores Ann Corlew of Clarkton; three brothers, Lloyd Pullum of Dexter, Floyd Pullum of Malden and Leo Pullum of Essex; one sister, Dorothy Wilson of Overland, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter; two sisters, Virgie Qualls and Pearl Knupp; and one brother, Andrew "Bud" Pullum. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, Feb. 25 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the Watkins & Son Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
