Branon Garrett

Branon Garrett, the son of the late T.M. and Clyde Palmer Garrett, was born in Stoddard County on Oct. 1, 1923 and died at his home in Dexter on Dec. 14, 2001, at the age of 78. Mr. Garrett was a retired truck driver. He was a former resident of Mich. before moving to Dexter 35 years ago. He was a member of the 2nd General Baptist Church in Dexter and served in the United States Army during World War II. On Oct. 29, 1967, he was united in marriage to Zelpha Harris at Dexter, she survives of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Garrett of Detroit, Mich.; by two daughters, Jeanne Kirby and Karen Wendorff, both of Detroit; by two step-sons, Darrell and Garey Teeters, both of Yucaipa, Calif.; by two sisters, Ora Powers and Hilda Ellis, both of Zepher Hills, Fla.; by several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 17 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Son Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 in the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Phil Warren of Dexter officiating. Internment followed in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
