Mariam Eleanor Aslin, daughter of the late Venton and Pearl Parks Martin, was born at Bloomfield on March 15, 1931 and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Sept. 8, 2001, at the age of 70. Mrs. Aslin had spent most of her life in the Bloomfield Community. She was a member of the Hills General Baptist Church near Bloomfield and a member of the Bloomfield Order of the Eastern Star. On March 19, 1949 she was married to Elvin Aslin, he preceded her in death on April 10, 1999. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Aslin; one grandson, Curtis Aslin; and one brother, Elbert Martin. Survivors include one son, Kyle Aslin of Bloomfield; five brothers, Wayne Martin of Riverview, Fla., Richard Martin of Bloomfield, Jim Martin of Wayne, Mich., Tom Martin of Little Rock, Ark., and Dean Martin of Plant City, Fla.; one sister, Freida Lee of Dexter; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield with Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield. Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
