Beatrice Holland, daughter of the late Connie Clarence Harkness and Heather Beatrice Williams Harkness, was born on Dec. 7, 1923 at Pontotoc, Miss. and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Sept. 2, 2001, at the age of 77. Mrs. Holland was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter, a home-maker and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Ernest Lee Holland on July 15, 1944 at Hernando, Miss., he preceded her in death on May 24, 1972. Survivors include one son, Randy Holland of Sherwood, Ark.; one daughter, Sandra S. Akridge of Dexter; by three brothers, Lamar Harkness of Puxico, George Harkness of Dexter, and Lewis Harkness of Coal Hill, Ark.; by one sister, Doris Thompson of Dexter; by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Harkness and Wayne Harkness. Visitation will be in the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter on Tues., Sept. 4 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 5 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
