Zelpha Garrett, daughter of the late Henry and Ada Hayes Harris, was born on Nov. 12, 1914 in Ind. and died in Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the age of 88. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, a former clerk for Stovall's Department Store and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Branon Garrett on Oct. 29, 1967 at Dexter. Mr. Garrett preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Darrel Teeters and Gary Teeters, both of Yucaipa, Calif.; two brothers, Arty Harris of Anaheim, Calif. and Cecil Harris of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Ava Fries of Beverly Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Gray. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2003. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2003 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lester Clayton officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
