Blane Stafford

Blane Stafford, son of the late Thomas Allen Stafford and Minnie Allen Stafford, was born on September 19, 1910, in Stoddard County and died in the Vanderbilt Medical Center at Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the age of 92. Mr. Stafford was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a former manager for Missouri Utilities, a former resident of Dexter and resided in Franklin, Tenn., until his death. He was first united in marriage to Oma Pletcher on July 4, 1928, in Bell City. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1994. He then married Frances Hart on November 26, 1994, at Jonesboro, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Howard Stafford of Sikeston and Rev. Tom Stafford of Jonesboro, Ark.; one daughter, Judith Partain of Franklin, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Kay Powers of Nixa; two brothers, Eldon Stafford of Essex and T.G. Stafford of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Lola Young of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. Besides his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Wayne Stafford; two brothers, Olen Stafford and Hurley Stafford; one sister, Odessa Gibbs. Visitation was at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2003. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Tom Stafford officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
