William A. Sharp

William A. Sharp, son of the late William Arthur Sharp and Melinda Thompson Sharp was born on December 10, 1919 at Elco, Ill. and died in the Advance Nursing Center on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the age of 83. Mr. Sharp was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, a veteran of the United States Army, a former Millwright with National Steel at Granite City, Ill. and a former resident of Dexter, currently residing in Anna, Ill. He was united in marriage to Edna Mae Warnhoff on September 8, 1948 at Jonesboro, Ill. She preceded him in death on June 7, 1989. He was then married Edna Mae Davis on December 21, 1990 at Wickliffe, Ky. She survives of the home in Anna, Ill. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Robert Sharp of Springfield, Raymond Sharp of Granite City, Ill., Ronald Sharp and Alan Sharp, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; two step-sons, Joshua Davis of Alto Pass, Ill. and Gary Wayne Davis of Anna, Ill.; four step-daughters, Patty Diaz and Carolyn Roster, both of Anna, Ill., Anna Patterson of Sandusky, Ill and Bertie Barnet of Pittsburgh, Ill.; twenty-three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2003. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Ed Mangus officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
