Fletcher A. Pounds, the son of the late Jacob Levi and Gertrude May Anderson Pounds, was born in Ward, Ark. on June 19, 1916 and died on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter at the age of 86. Mr. Pounds had lived in Michigan and Lake Water, Fla. before moving to Dexter in 1998. He was a retired Railway Express Clerk with the Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On May 20, 1938 he was married to Pauline Margaret Henderson, she preceded him in death on June 4, 1977. Survivors include one son, Darell W. Pounds of New Boston, Mich.; two brothers, Leon Pounds of Bloomfield and Tom Pounds of Redford, Mich.; and one sister, Reaudeau DeMay of Ferndale, Mich.; Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2003 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
