Ora Mae Correll, daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Green) Burnett, was born March 31, 1922, at Kennett where she grew up and attended school. On June 14, 1939, she was united in marriage to Pike Correll in the state of Arizona. To this union three children were born: Bill, Carolyn and Robert. Mr. and Mrs. Correll were both baptized at the Church of Christ near Dexter. In her earlier years, she was a midwife with the Poe Clinic in Dexter. There are several individuals in the Southeast corner of Missouri who have been delivered by Mrs. Correll. Later on, they ran the cafeteria in the Federal Court Building in St. Louis. She dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking, tending to her flowers, gardening, watching the birds and especially the squirrels. She was always willing to help others, even when she was not physically able to do so. Mrs. Correll died the evening of Jan. 7, 2003, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla at the age of 80 years, nine months, and seven days. Mrs. Correll is survived by her husband, Pike Correll of the home; two sons, Bill Correll and his wife Lynne of Stanton and Robert Correll and his wife Jo Anne of Arnold; one daughter, Carolyn Strauser and her husband Dale of Waynesville; one sister, Velma Barker of Dexter; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She will be reunited with her parents, one sister, Ola Duckworth, and two brothers, John and Ernest Burnett. PAID
