Betty J. Griffin

Betty Jean Griffin, the daughter of Mary Leone Harris and the late William E. Harris, was born in Leeper on Jan. 2, 1927, and died at her home in Lee's Summitt on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at the age of 75. She was a graduate of Ellsinore High School and attended Southeast Missouri State and Arkansas State universities. Mrs. Griffin was a former school teacher in southeast Missouri and the Kansas City area for many years. She was a member of the Swope Park Baptist Church in Kansas City. In 1952, she was married to Glen H. Griffin in Piggott, Ark. Surviving are her husband, Glen H. Griffin of Lee's Summitt; one son and daughter-in-law, Glen Jr. and Jane Griffin of Lees Summitt; one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Russ Cline of Lees Summitt; one grandson, Ryan Cline; two granddaughters, Ashley and Allison Griffin; one brother, George Harris, Sr. of St. James; other family members include Edith and J.D. Parks of Puxico; Louise Henson of Puxico; Jean and Lyle Roberts and Dorothy Arnold, both of Bedord, Ind.; Bud and Sue Griffin of Bedord, Ind.; Tommy and Mary Griffin of Longview, Texas; Arch Griffin of Memphis, Tenn.; and Dub and Lola Griffin of Puxico. Other nephews and nieces survive. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christa Jean Cline. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at the Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel in Kansas City. Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah South Cemetery in Kansas City. The family has requested that memorials be made to Swope Park Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 10415 Chestnut Drive, Kansas City, Mo. 64137. PAID
