Edith Mae Davis, the daughter of the late Claude, Sr. and Iva Harvey Medlin, was born in Malden on May 11, 1917, and died at the Cypress Point Healthcare Center in Dexter on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the age of 85. Mrs. Davis had lived in Bell City and Campbell and had lived in Dexter since 1965. She was a homemaker, loved to sew and quilt, and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter. On Nov. 13, 1935, she was married to Theodore Alexander Davis in Malden. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1980. Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis Mason of Dexter; four sons, Cletus E. Davis of Sebring, Fla., Donald D. Davis of Dexter, Junior Lee Davis and Theodore Davis, Jr., both of Sikeston; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Zelpha McCain of Marion, Ind.; two half-sisters, Dorothy VanderMolen and Geraldine Richter, both of Muskegan, Mich.; and three half-brothers, Harold Medlin of Marion, Ind., Claude and David Medlin, both of Dexter. Visitation was held after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Keith Garland of Dexter and Rev. Mark Sparks of Bossier City, La., officiating. Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
