Charles Hubbard, age 63, of West Plains died on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, in Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains. Mr. Hubbard was born Oct. 26, 1938, at Dexter, the son of the late Chester Albert and Margaret Ellis Hubbard. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1956. In 1959 he was married at Waukegan, Ill., to Helen Patricia Peacock. On Jan. 3, 1981, he married Roberta Lynne Drago at West Plains. Mr. Hubbard was a veteran having served with the United States Navy from 1956 until 1964. He retired with the rank of sargeant from the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Jan. 1, 1994, after serving for 30 years. He was a member of the Am Vets and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Hubbard is survived by five children, Gwendolyn Hubbard, Doug Charles Hubbard, both of West Plains, Dennis Craig Hubbard of Dexter, David Hubbard of Beaumont, Texas, and Elder Dustin Chet Hubbard, Mexico City, Mexico; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Hubbard of Dexter and Robert Hubbard of Tulsa, Okla.; and one sister, Becky Almond of Dexter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains with Brother Dan Hinton officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Military honors for Charles Hubbard will be provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes Jewish Hospital Foundation Thoracic Surgery Research and may be mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.
