Wynard Aslin

Wynard Earl Aslin, son of Bonnie Floyd and Mertie Dell Lewis Aslin, was born on January 30, 1920, in Bloomfield, and died August 9, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was married to Emeline Czapinski on January 9, 1945, and she survives of the home. Mr. Aslin was a graduate of University of Missouri. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After serving in the army, Mr. Aslin was the Executive Secretary with Missouri Seed Improvement Association for 42 years until his retirement in 1987. He also had a faculty appointment at the University of Missouri-Columbia in Field Crops. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Golden K Kiwanis Club in Columbia. Other survivors include two sons, Ray Aslin of Manhattan, Kan. and Larry Aslin of Fayetteville, Ark.; a daughter, Medarda Hoffmann of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, David Aslin of Clio, Mich.; a sister, Ilena Aslin of Cape Girardeau; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2002, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Flanagan officiating. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
