Richard U. Riddle

Richard U. Riddle, 81, of Glen Allen was born July 17, 1920, in Poplar Bluff, to the late William Dallas and Bonnie Wright Riddle. He died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Elder Care in Marble Hill. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Force for four years. He was a retired butcher and meat department manager at Fords Meat Shop in Cape Girardeau and also was co-owner of the first Town & County grocery store in Advance for many years. On Jan. 26, 1940, he married Mary Emma Hawes at Cape Girardeau and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Smith of Marble Hill and Rita Cato of Glen Allen; one brother, Charles E. Riddle of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Moore of Malden and Doris Fluesmeier of St. Charles; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
