Russell Simpson, the son of the late Daniel and Alice Trotter Simpson, was born in Essex on Feb. 19, 1912 and passed away at this home in Essex, Mo. on April 9, 2002, at the age of 90. Mr. Simpson had lived in Weiner, Ark. for many years before moving to Essex, Mo. in 1980. He was a member of the Cooper & Haynes General Baptist Church in Weiner, Ark. On Sept. 12, 1936 he was married to Cloia Simpson in Lake City, Ark. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2001. Surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean Burns of Essex; one grandson, Jerry Triplett of Dexter; one granddaughter, Terry Triplett Adkins of Essex; two great-granddaughters, Shonitie Adkins of Essex and Jessica Triplett of Dexter; one great-great-grandson, Sloan Adkins of Essex; one sister, Ruby Louis of Wiener, Ark.. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Simpson, Charley Simpson and Floyd Simpson; five sisters, Louise Craft, Claudy Simpson, Lilly Mae Simpson, Lovie Simpson and Maudy Simpson; and by one half-brother, Walter Herring. Friends may call on Thursday, April 11, 2002, at 12:50 p.m. at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Mo. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Essex Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Rogers of Poplar Bluff, Mo. officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements. PAID
