John Blankenship of Advance and formerly of Zalma, son of the late James L. and Mary K. Phillips Blankenship, was born May 4, 1921 at Braggadocia, Mo. and died at his home on Friday, March 29, 2002 after an extended illness, at the age of 80. John was a retired farmer and an United States Army World War II Veteran. He was united in marriage to Edith Nash on Jan. 7, 1950 at Advance, she survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Tim Blankenship of Zalma; by two daughters, LaDonna Dalton of Whitewater and Pat Baker of Advance; by two brothers, Elmer Blankenship of Poplar Bluff and Jack Blankenship of Advance; by one sister, Oda Mae Waller of Piedmont; by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held, today, March 31 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 1 in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lee Roy Hefner officiating. Interment will follow at the Rock Point Cemetery near Advance with Morgan Funeral Home in Advance in charge of arrangements.
