Lester C. Shell, son of the late Noah Winchester Shell and Martha Whitener Shell, was born on Aug. 25, 1920, at McGee and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the age of 82. Mr. Shell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a retired cable repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone, a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, a member of the Kenady-Hanks Post #59 the American Legion, formerly involved with the Boy Scouts of America and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Maxine Speer on July 5, 1946, at Lutesville. Mrs. Shell survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, David Shell of Washington; two daughters, Brenda Dowdy of Dexter and Angela Keirsey of Warrensburg; one sister, Letty Bess of Advance; and seven grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Shell and one in infancy; and one sister, Lois Lee. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
