Vesteen Taylor died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at the age of 81. He was born in Manila, Ark., on Dec. 16, 1920, the son of Mary Elizabeth (Woody) Taylor and Sam Tayor. He was united in marriage on March 4, 1947, to Mary Juanita Quick in Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home in Essex. Also surviving are five sons, Rondal Taylor of Essex, Roger Taylor of Sikeston, Lynn Taylor of Sikeston, Rodney Taylor of Fulton, Tenn., and Vesteen Taylor, Jr. of Sikeston; five daughters, Melba Hardin of Union City, Tenn., Freda Stidman of Dexter, Janet Robinson of Union City, Tenn., Sandra Smith of Union City, Tenn., and Debra Sexton of Marion, Ark.; one brother, James Taylor of Elwood, Ind.; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gerald Wayne Taylor; one daughter, Brenda Taylor; three sisters, Lorene Norman, Imogene Bissel and Elsie Cook; and two brothers. Claude Taylor and Allen "Buddy" Taylor. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 at the Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, with Rev. John Paul Benning officiating. Interment will be in the Portageville Cemetery.
