Leatrice Barks

Leatrice Barks of Advance, the daughter of the late Cleve and Clara Myers Jackson, was born Jan. 19, 1922 at Powe and died Jan. 25, 2002 at the Chaffee Nursing Center, at the age of 80. Leatrice was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Advance and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She was united in marriage to Henry Barks on Aug. 6, 1942 at Little Rock, Ark. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1967. Survivors include one son, James Barks of Rolla; two sisters, Veda Boley and Maggie Lancaster, both of Chaffee; a granddaughter raised as a daughter, Jama Robbins of Paris, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation was held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Interment followed at the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
