Dona A. Long, daughter of the late Ben F. Harmon and Molly Cook Harmon, was born March 12, 1912 at Lamar, Ark. and died in the Springfield Rehab Healthcare at Springfield, Mo. on Jan. 16, 2002 at the age of 89. Mrs. Long was a member of the Bernie Nazarene Church in Bernie, a homemaker, a resident of Springfield and formerly of Bernie. She was united in marriage to Ben Calvin Long on Dec. 14, 1935 at Hagarville, Ark. Mr. Long preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1969. Survivors include four sons, Huey P. Long of Kansas City, Kan., Ben Harmon Long of Bernie, Douglas Wayne Long of Satanta, Kan. and Stephen Long of Bernie; two daughters, Mary E. Long of St. Louis and Sylvia K. Sneed of Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Orville Harmon of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Bessie Rowbottom of Lamar, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 - 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Wells officiating. Interment will follow at the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements.
