Helen Phillips

Helen Phillips, daughter of the late Francis McCain and Beaulah Strobel McCain, was born April 20, 1928 at Frankfort, Ill. and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Jan. 11, 2002, at the age of 73. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Mt. Pisgah Church near Bloomfield, a former employee of Elder Manufacturing in Bloomfield, the former owner of the Hornet's Nest Restaurant in Advance and a resident of Bloomfield. She was united in marriage to Orin Phillips on July 19, 1944 at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Kay White of Bloomfield and Judy Kirby of Dexter; one brother, James McCain of Advance; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Phillips and by one sister, LaWanda McCain. Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 3:30 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Bloomfield with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
