Brian J. Evans, son of Bill Evans of Dexter and the late Patricia Carr Evans, was born on March 30, 1959, at Sikeston and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Sept. 3, 2001, at the age of 42. Mr. Evans was a Christian, a heavy equipment operator for J.H. Berra Construction of St. Louis, a former officer for eight years with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, a retired Staff Sergeant for the Missouri National Guard Company C 1140th Engineering Battalion in Sikeston, where he served for 22 years, a member of Operating Engineer Local #513 and a resident of Dexter. Survivors include one son, Curt T. Evans of Dexter; his father, Bill Evans of Dexter; one brother, Bill A. Evans of Scottsdale, Ariz.; by five sisters, Carol Stayton and Sonya Parr both of Dexter, Cynthia Herren of Branson, Carmen Price of Maryville, Tenn., and Amy Johnston of Eaton Rapids, Mich. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Heather Renee Evans. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery at Charleston with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
